Audrey Kim, Violin
Audrey Kim is a sophomore at Conestoga High School in Berwyn, PA. She began learning the violin at the age of four and currently studies with J Freivogel. She has been a top prizewinner in several competitions including the Old York Road Symphony Young Artists Competition, Bucks County Symphony Youth Concerto Competition, Main Line Symphony Young Artist Competition, Luzerne Music Center Young Artist Scholarship Competition, and Tri-County Concerts Youth Festival's Junior and Senior Strings. Audrey has performed as soloist with the Bucks County Symphony, Main Line Symphony, and Temple Youth Chamber Orchestra. As the winner of the Old York Road Symphony Orchestra Competition, she will perform the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto with the orchestra during the 2023-2024 season.
Additionally, she has achieved recognition as the recipient of several prestigious scholarships, such as the Jeanne Marvin Phillips Prize, the Marie Paxson Fund Prize, and the Full Tuition Award from Interlochen Arts Camp and Luzerne Music Center.
As a member of Temple Music Prep's Center for Gifted Young Musicians, Audrey has played in their orchestras and string quartets for seven years. She also played in the Myer Schwartz Piano Trio as a part of the Settlement Music School's Advanced Study Scholarship Ensemble program. Audrey has participated in master classes with renowned teachers, including Sibbi Bernhardsson, Robert Chen, Ilya Kaler, Juliette Kang, Paul Kantor, Fabiola Kim, Violaine Melaçon, Blair Milton, Eduard Schmieder, and Philip Setzer. She has also performed at chamber music master classes from Steven Tenenbom, Sheila Browne, and the Merz Trio. During the 2023 Heifetz Institute, she had the opportunity to study under Nicholas Kitchen, Ani Kavafian, Mark Kaplan, and Ivan Chan. In previous summers, she attended Temple Prep's Exchange Program in Reykjavík, Iceland, BU Tanglewood Institute Young Artist Orchestra, Northwestern Summer Violin Institute, Saint Paul Chamber Music Institute, Luzerne Music Center, and Philadelphia International Music Festival. Apart from her musical activities, Audrey is a member of the Conestoga Varsity Girls Ice Hockey Team and writes for her school’s newspaper.
