As we approach the end of our current season, the Old York Road Symphony prepares for a significant transition. We are announcing the conclusion of Jack Moore’s tenure as our Music Director, marking ten remarkable years of leadership, growth, and exceptional music-making.

     Since taking the podium a decade ago, Jack has guided this orchestra with a rare combination of artistic vision and genuine warmth. Many of us first came to know Jack as a familiar voice on Philadelphia’s airwaves, and he brought that same gift for musical storytelling to every rehearsal and performance. Under his baton, the symphony has flourished, tackling ambitious repertoire and hosting high-caliber soloists that have elevated our seasons to new heights.

     We are deeply grateful for the wonderful music Jack has shared with us and for the steady hand he provided as we navigated ten years of artistic evolution. His dedication to our musicians and his commitment to the local arts community have left an indelible mark on the Old York Road Symphony. We wish him the very best as he moves into his next chapter.

While we bid a fond farewell to Jack, we are pleased to announce that the leadership of the orchestra will pass to a colleague who is already a vital part of our musical family: Thomas Rigney.

     A lifelong resident of Abington Township, Tom has been an active presence in our local music scene for years. He has already made a profound impact at OYRS through his work as our Assistant Conductor, leading memorable performances ranging from Handel’s Messiah to pops and subscription concerts.

    Tom brings a deep academic and performance background to the role, with degrees from Penn State and the University of Houston. His experience as a teacher and conductor—including roles at Bishop McDevitt High School and guest appearances with the Warminster and BuxMont symphonies—ensures that the orchestra is in excellent hands. We are excited to see the energy and local perspective Tom will bring to the podium as we begin this new era together.
